The First Break program is a year-round employment program designed to help link eager and interested high school students in the Los Angeles Unified School District [LAUSD], to the world of work.

First Break provides students access to over 20,000 job listings throughout the greater Los Angeles area.

First Break is in partnership with private and non-profit organizations to place your people in private sector positions.

 First Break began in 1973 as a cooperative program of the Los Angeles Unified School District and the Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce to find jobs for high school students. Throughout its history, the porgram's consistent focus and goal has been to help high school students make a positive first connection with private inudstry. In return, students experience the rewards of employment and learn the responsiblities of contributing to the workforce.
In November of 1996, the First Break Program started providing LAUSD students with job leads via the Internet.

First Break is the first school district in the nation to have a job search and placement database that students and counselors may access anywhere at anytime.
